Through this programme, young girls including female students in tertiary institutions are helped to realise their self worth, be assertive, and make informed decisions around issues of HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health and rights. Through a mentoring strategy, a cohort of young females advocating for girls’ rights is formed.

Through the work of WASN’s gender specific models, the programme aims to build the capacity of organisations and institutions to address gender issues in their policies and programmes. The WASN Gender-Specific HIV ad AIDS Interventions Model has gained widespread recognition, and has been delivered to 90 organisations in Zimbabwe, 19 organisations in Ethiopia, and one organisation in Ghana.
